From The Walrus Editor-in-Chief, Carmine Starnino:

Pierre Poilievre’s road back to Parliament has been anything but straightforward. He lost a federal race he was expected to win—along with his long-held Carleton seat—and then had to claw his way in again through a by-election in Alberta’s Battle River–Crowfoot. The Ottawa he’s walking into is not the one he left: Mark Carney’s Liberals are riding high in the polls, and some in his own party are calling him “yesterday’s man.” He’s heard worse. In his piece about Monday’s comeback win, writer Michael Taube reminds us that the Conservative leader has rebuilt his standing before, recasting himself from brash agitator to serious contender. With the economy sputtering and a rival untested on the Commons floor, Poilievre is betting his sharp tongue, grassroots instincts, and knack for a fight can get him back in the game.
