Hello Friend,
Thank you for following our work with The Walrus Lab.
I'm writing to invite you to The Walrus Gala on Wednesday, May 13, at Ricarda’s in Toronto. It’s our flagship fundraiser and one of the most compelling evenings in the city’s cultural calendar.

If you’ve been reading The Walrus, you know we don’t do safe journalism. We publish the investigations, ideas, and perspectives that challenge Canada to think differently about itself. That work depends entirely on leaders and supporters like you who believe independent, fact-checked journalism matters.
This year’s gala brings together the people driving conversation in this country: business leaders, philanthropists, cultural figures, and thinkers who care about Canada’s sovereignty, freedom of the press, and the strength of our literary culture. It’s the kind of room where real dialogue happens.

We’ve assembled an exceptional
evening: Canadian soprano Measha Brueggergosman-Lee will perform, Chef Julien Laffargue has created a stunning menu at Ricarda’s, and our raffle features an all-inclusive trip for two to Barbados (with a complimentary rum-tasting bar, courtesy of Barbados Tourism).
But honestly, the real draw is the conversation and the community. You’ll spend the evening with people who are thinking seriously about Canada’s future.

Individual tickets are available here. If you’d like to sponsor a table and bring your network, we’d love to talk about that too.
If you’re outside of the Toronto area, stay tuned for our national online auction which launches on Friday, April 24, 2026 at 9 a.m. ET.
I hope you’ll join us.
